My Approach to Counselling

I consider it a privilege to be in a profession where I have the opportunity to work with people intimately and I recognize that you are inviting me into your private life.

My approach to counselling is compassionate, collaborative and non-judgmental. You will find this to be true in all aspects of our work together. I approach each client from a place of looking for strengths, and believe in the importance of working on amplifying the strengths each person, couple or family, already has. I use narrative therapy and family of origin work to help gain insight on many of the patterns we have developed, or core beliefs we have developed about ourselves. Our partnership is about your self-awareness, empowerment, acceptance as well as a strengthening of values. This work helps guide the client towards a deeper understanding of one’s values, and towards a life of living in alignment with the values we feel give our life meaning.

I use a variety of evidence informed modalities that best suit the individual client, couple or family.  I use an integrated therapeutic approach and this allows me to use many resources and techniques to support you, and to offer you the most well suited therapy that will help you to achieve your goals.

I provide couples counselling and parenting support to families that are looking to strengthen their relationships as well as provide consultation, education and resources for families.
